Unlocking your apps

How does unlocking work?

  1. Choose the apps you want to lock during setup, or anytime in Settings → Locked apps.
  2. When you open a locked app, you'll see the Amen Pact screen. Tap Pray now.
  3. Tap the "Tap to pray" notification that appears. Amen Pact opens to your prayer moment.
  4. Pray through the short countdown (10 seconds unless you change it), then tap Amen.
  5. Your apps unlock for your unlock window, then lock again on their own.

You can also open Amen Pact and tap Pray to unlock on the Home tab.

Change the timing: in Settings, set your Unlock window (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or a custom time up to 24 hours) and your Prayer length (5 to 60 seconds).

Phone, Messages and Maps always stay open, so you can always call, text or find your way.

Why does "Pray now" send a notification instead of opening the app?

Apple doesn't let the screen on a locked app open another app directly. So when you tap Pray now, Amen Pact sends you a "Tap to pray" notification. Tapping it takes you straight to your prayer moment.

Not seeing the notification?

What's an emergency unlock?

Sometimes you need your apps right now. Go to Settings → Emergency unlock and confirm. Your apps unlock immediately and stay unlocked until your next daily reset, with no prayer moment needed.

Friends in your group will see "Used an unlock" for that day. You can see your last 10 emergency unlocks in Settings.

What's the daily reset?

Each day at your reset time, your apps lock again, even if you don't open Amen Pact. Any unlock still running, including an emergency unlock, ends then. The reset is set to 5:00 AM at first. You can change it in Settings → Daily reset time.

Groups

How do groups work?

A group is 2 to 8 friends praying together. Create one on the Groups tab, then tap Invite friends to share a link (amenpact.app/join/…) or your group's 6-character code. When friends join, you share a group streak, and friends get a notification when someone prays.

Only share your invite link with friends you want in the group. Anyone with the link can see the group's name, how many friends are in it, and who created it.

Can I turn off notifications when friends pray?

Yes. Turn off Group prayer notifications in the app's Settings.

How do I leave a group?

Open the Groups tab, tap the group, then tap Leave group and confirm. You'll stop seeing that group's prayers and streak. You can rejoin later with the invite code.

How do I report a concern about a friend or group?

Email hello@amenpact.com with the group name and what happened. We read every report and aim to respond within 48 hours. You can also leave the group at any time.

Subscription

What does Amen Pact Pro cost?

Amen Pact Pro is $29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or $3.99 a month. Prices are in US dollars and may differ in other countries. Subscriptions renew automatically through Apple until you cancel. See our Terms of use for the full details.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Apple handles subscriptions, so you manage them in your Apple ID settings:

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Amen Pact and choose a different plan or Cancel Subscription.

You can also get there from Amen Pact: Settings → Manage subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. You'll keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We aren't able to issue refunds ourselves.

How do I restore my purchase?

If you got a new iPhone or reinstalled Amen Pact, make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you subscribed with. Then, in Amen Pact, go to Settings → Restore purchases (or Settings → Manage subscription, if it shows there). Your Pro access will come back.

Your account

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete account in Amen Pact and confirm. This deletes your account and the data tied to it from our servers, including your display name, groups and prayer check-ins. If you lead a group that has other friends in it, the group passes to another friend so it can carry on. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel that first (see above).

You can also email us from the address linked to your account and we'll delete it for you. Read more in our Privacy policy.

Can Amen Pact see which apps I lock?

No. Your app choices stay on your iPhone. Apple's Screen Time gives Amen Pact only private tokens, so we can't see which apps you picked or how you use them. We also don't show ads, sell your data, or track you across other apps.

Screen Time troubleshooting

Amen Pact uses Apple's Screen Time to lock your apps, so it needs your permission. Amen Pact requires iOS 17 or later.

Amen Pact says it doesn't have Screen Time access.

I'm on a Family Sharing child account. A parent or guardian may need to approve Screen Time access on their device first.

My iPhone is managed by a school or employer. Device-management rules can block Screen Time access. Ask your administrator.

My apps aren't locking.

I see Apple's generic "Restricted" screen instead of the Amen Pact screen. Update Amen Pact to the latest version and restart your iPhone.
